Dear Colleagues,

Asunción (Paraguay) has been chosen as the venue for the 2022 ISRM International Symposium and IX Latin American Rock Mechanics Symposium, where the ISRM Board, Council and Commissions meetings will take place. This prestigious event will take place from October 16th to 19th, 2022.

The theme chosen for LARMS 2022 is "Challenges in rock mechanics: towards a sustainable development of infrastructure", which aims to discuss technological advances and current practice, as well as trends in rock engineering. Topics include characterization of rock masses, mines, rock slopes, applied geophysics, instrumentation, numerical methods, soft rocks, tunnels and deep rock excavations, oil and environment.

We hereby extend our invitation to submit your abstracts for the International Symposium, with deadline on March 20, 2022, through the Easychair platform, accessing the link larms2022.com.

The Symposium in Paraguay will be among the first presencial reunions of the geotechnical community after the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing direct interaction with the different authors and representatives of the industry. We know our community has long been looking forward to it.
