17th ISRM Young Members' Seminar Series

Professor Sérgio Fontoura, from Brazil, elected ISRM President for the term 2027–2031

The presidential election was held during the ISRM Council meeting in Trondheim, on 16 June 2025. Prof. Sérgio Fontoura was elected and will officially assume the Presidency of the Society following the ISRM International Congress on Rock Mechanics in September 2027, which will take place in Seoul, Korea.

2025 Technological Innovation Award

The Technological Innovation Award is conferred on ISRM corporate members in recognition of contributions to the progress of applied rock mechanics and rock engineering. The 2025 awardee is the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Dr Ignacio Pérez-Rey won the ISRM Young Rock Engineer Award

The ISRM Young Rock Engineer Award is awarded to acknowledge excellence in the field of rock engineering by members in early stages of their career. The 2025 awardee is Dr Ignacio Pérez-Rey, from Spain.
